About Us

Athans Model College officially took off on the 7th September, 2015 as a dream come true for the visionary, Chief Iordye and Cynthia Kyausu who strongly nursed the desire to serve their community and nation by providing educational services with global impact that will carter for children’s spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical development. The desire to have a larger family out of which a crop of economically self reliant individuals would be produced was also part of this vision; thus setting up a full-fledged system that will promote entrepreneurship skills in Nigerian children and with focus on science and technology.

TEACHING APPROACH

We emphasize learners-centered approach which is characterized by play-way method. It utilizes a lot of multi-sensory education that stimulate learners by providing them with a wide range of learning experiences. This helps them explore their world as they experiment and interact through play with multi-dimensional things and teaching/instructional aides. Element of Montessori method are unlisted where the students are allowed independence and freedom in learning yet guided within reasonable limit whilst respecting their unique individuality and natural physiological development.

Athans Model College School Structure

Athans Model College runs a carefully designed academic program which aims at developing Godly virtues and socially acceptable values in our learners. The major focus of the school is to ensure that our students are adequately groomed and guided to take up leadership responsibilities in future with a drive to stamp-out corruption and other social vices that are working against our nation’s development. This six years program is divided into two sections with 3 years program each which are the senior basic 7-9 (JSS 1-3) and senior secondary school (SSS 1-3). Our other concern is to develop high intellectual ability in the students through inquiry, experimentation, projects, analytical process and hands-on/mind-on approach. Here, our students are the center of teaching/learning experience. Priority is given to them as far as learning is concerned. Our conducive learning environment creates a perfect atmosphere for them to explore their world. The school curriculum further desires to strengthen the students to be creative, innovative and self-reliant by providing entrepreneurship education in addition to the Nigerian secondary curricula subjects as part of the students activities. Passing through our hands, the students will have the privilege to be trained in different vocational skills which can guide them to develop a range of business while they further their studies. This is intended to equip them to maximize the various businesses opportunities that abound in the state, nation and the word at large. In a nut-shell, the college is techno-prenuaral in approach, and provide these services through functional science/vocation, technology, humanities/ commercial and art discipline. We seek to prepare our learners (students) socially and academically for responsible adult life career and above all provide them with opportunities for smooth transition to tertiary education within and outside the country through National and international examination such as WAEC, NECO, JAMB and TOEFL.

Athans Model College Admission

All children to be admitted shall have their application forms completed by their parents/guardians. The selection process depends largely on scores obtained from I.Q. tests and other types of tests/interviews administered by the school. Offer of admission is however on a first come, first served basis. Those who pass the test and interviews consequently get an offer of admission and parents are usually required to pay an admission fee. Admission forms are available at the principal’s office at the cost of N2500 only.
